In mid-2018, Daan Mulder and Sander in 't Veld became A Bunch of Hacks in order to pursue independent game development. A Bunch of Hacks is a worker cooperative based in Amsterdam.
After studying together at the University of Amsterdam, programmers Sander in 't Veld and Daan Mulder decided to create a game together. We met in empty lecture rooms to toil away at a game engine, creating a prototype for Epicinium. We quit our jobs to focus on game and software projects fulltime. To that end, we founded a cooperative called A Bunch of Hacks in 2018.After that
We teamed up with visual designer Masha Loutanina and audio progammer Can Ur for the development of Epicinium. On 12 October 2020, the game was released for Windows, Mac and Linux on Steam and itchio. That same day, its source code was made available under the AGPL open source license. During that time, we also completed software projects for a variety of clients, such as the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht.
